Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure are included.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of characters who will branch out from the main group to undertake their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (played by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might appear unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then settled his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
- Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a hostile place.
- The warrior and The cleric, having defied his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their position as important members in the influential clan could help the party enter areas they usually can’t.
- Moreover, Teor pledged a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The healer turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This results in them little choice but to head to the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Questers and Planners parties.
