19 of the Russian's 21 victories have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev won his first title for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has experienced a torrid season, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in particular - led to him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately separating with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.

This represents the player's initial trophy after the Rome competition and initial on a hard court after that period of that year.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one different competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is really nice," said ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his past six championship matches, including in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and recurring reactions on the playing surface had prompted commentators to wonder if his capacity to compete at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an better serve.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, winning 4 of the last five points to take the lead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden tour title, seized the initiative to force a decider.

The opponent saved 4 initial chances in a tight third set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the title with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to control a return after a lengthy match.
